Tuner Project Car : Street Wild : Case study : Greenie

Here you can see what one of my poor cars became after some bad fortune and years of subsequent neglect. Once a nice street car, this Brooklands Green/Tan 1994 was the mirror of my pal Andys car. (I got it just to tweak him by parking it in "his spot" at Starbucks - but that's another whole story...)

Anyways... that idyllic scene lasted until I went to SEMA in 1999 and met some carbon fiber body panel guys. We made a deal to make a body kit for the car and I dropped at their shop. Then they went out of business and their employees stripped the car etc. I was lucky to get what was left of it back. It has sat forlornly in the corner of our storage for 6-7 years.

My how time flies when you are too busy to think straight, but sometimes that is a good thing as you don't have access to the right shop for the job until they appear.... AAP to the rescue!!

I selected AAP to do the restoration after seeing the before and after of one of the Panteras they had taken in. YIKES!! Besides, their shop car is a green 1994 so they have that to look at in case they forget where anything is supposed to go! (just kidding Jim)

Since we wanted to keep this car street legal for eventual California registration, we needed all the motor related build parts to be CARB certified. With that in mind we are fitting a Comptech SC and Comptech headers (modified by Dali) so it has a bit of get up and go. See the spec sheet tab above for links to all the goodies.

We will chronicle the restoration efforts here.

Here we have the first of several progress reports on our transformation. As you can see, liberal application of the power washer revealed a potentially nice Brooklands Green NSX underneath all the dust and rat droppings. As the boys at AAP started bolting the bits back on it became apparent that some of the bits were missing. sigh.

We made the first of what I'm sure will become a long series of wish lists for parts to find. Since this is not a "cost no object" adventure, we are looking in the back of the garage first and then out and about 2nd. At least I did find a right rear hub shown missing in one of the pix (damn, it is lacking a bearing) and a few other things - enough of them to get it over to the paint shop anyway.

More pix after it comes back.
Greenie is living over at the bodyshop. You all know how that can be. LONELY. We went to visit and snapped a few pix.
Ahh, bodyshops! I just love the smell of bondo and paint thinner in the morning........there's nothing quite like it to fry your brain cells. Mr. Green got a fresh coat of almost Brooklands Green color paint and all the little dingles and dangles taken care of - another 100 hours from now he might look good as new. At least I hope so since that's all the $ I got left.
Mr. Green is back from paint and back up on the rack - now we get to find out what we don't have and what we need to find to put it all back together - YIKES!! what a list............ At least YODA is watching and the force is with us.....
Coming soon (just need the dough!)
